"lso, even in other SW media, there are plenty of cases where Bounty Hunters / Troopers have been more than a match for Jedi (Jango Fett for example)."

"... and also the thought of having super-geeks discussing how well the game matches what’s known about the Star Wars universe. "

Yeah I dislike this about the SW franchise in general. There's a difference between really enjoying something and completely overanalysing everything to the point where it cheapens the original idea.

"... just the whole idea of having jedi and sith without it becoming incredibly overpowered..."

I agree. However, I'm pretty sure the jedi and sith won't be overpowered. BioWare isn't stupid, they would know making two classes much stronger than the other classes isn't good for the game. The key will be capturing how it feels to play a jedi/sith and making it a unique play experience, rather than making it more powerful. And the same is true for all the classes. Also, even in other SW media, there are plenty of cases where Bounty Hunters / Troopers have been more than a match for Jedi (Jango Fett for example).

I haven't seen the trailer yet (I'll watch it during one of the rare times nobody is using the net and I can let my little failnets computer go!), but I'm having mixed feelings about a Star Wars MMO. Not because of SW: Galaxies (which I haven't played, but I read about for an essay I was writing), but just the whole idea of having jedi and sith without it becoming incredibly overpowered, and also the thought of having super-geeks discussing how well the game matches what's known about the Star Wars universe.

I'm a bit of a SW geek myself, but I wouldn't really want to party with some guy who won't shut up about how this planet can't be how it is because this book from the EU says that blah-blah-blah. Those two are my two main worries about the game, but I think I'll be playing it when it comes out anyway, so I don't think they're things that'll make or break the game - unless the whole jedi/sith thing ends up failing completely. It works in KOTOR, but seeing as it's turn-based vs real-time, I'm not sure how they're translate that into an MMO, especially as you said, there's the whole force grab thing. I would really hate for it to be one of those fail turn-based/real-time hybrids like FFXI. *shudder*

Anyway, my comment won't mean anything until I see the trailer, so I'll comment again after that!
